Cool Blue Contemporary: A Modern Before & After
Our client never liked her old kitchen from the moment she walked into her home for the first time. “Whoever designed the original kitchen never cooked or had more than one person in the space at a time. As soon as you have guests, they want to be in kitchen and help but there was no way for two people to work together. We couldn’t even open the dishwasher and fridge at the same time.”
The cooktop was under the window, so we moved it over to a more functional space and added a hood. The old, low soffit required cabinets that were too small for the space. With that opened up, we were able to use taller uppers give an open, more vertical feel and significantly more storage space.
The original two-tier island made everything feel constricted and visually pushed back into the wall. The new island provides open sign lines, making the space feel more spacious. “Our designer, Theresa, was great at giving her thoughts and advice without being pushy. You can see her influence in the details like the unique angle on end of island. I love how that looks and functionally it keeps that walkway open.”
“I love this clean, modern look. With all the extra storage space and the clean design, even when the kitchen is lived in it never looks cluttered or messy. Theresa also managed to accommodate our desire for a cooler palette without sacrificing warmth.”
Our client had a very strict timeline – with a family even just after the holidays everything had to fall in place. “They made it happen. Communication is important so I loved having the single point of contact with Marco, the coordinator. He was proactive with regular updates. It makes you feel like you can have reasonable expectations and they met those all the way through.”
“Affinity offers the end-to-end experience. They employ the people who do the work and the quality of the people they sent were outstanding.”
